Leistung & Technik

Im Inneren arbeitet der neue A19 Pro-Chip, hergestellt im 3-Nanometer-Verfahren. Das verspricht sowohl mehr Effizienz als auch deutlich gesteigerte Leistung – besonders bei grafikintensiven Anwendungen und Multitasking. Unterstützt wird der neue Prozessor von einem ausgeklügelten Kühlsystem: Eine vapor chamber plus ein Aluminium-Unibody-Gehäuse sorgen für bessere Wärmeableitung. Das hilft, das Gerät auch bei intensiver Nutzung möglichst wenig in seiner Leistung zu drosseln.

Display & Design

Das Display misst 6,3 Zoll (Pro) bzw. 6,9 Zoll (Pro Max) und behält die OLED-Super Retina XDR Technologie mit ProMotion bei. Die maximale Helligkeit wurde auf etwa 3.000 Nits gesteigert – besonders draußen also sichtbar heller – und eine neue „Anti-Reflektions-Beschichtung“ soll störende Lichtreflektionen verringern. Sowohl Vorder- als auch Rückseite sind mit verbessertem Ceramic Shield ausgestattet: Die Rückseite soll laut Apple viermal kratzresistenter bzw. weniger bruchanfällig sein. Der Rahmen ist nicht mehr aus Titan wie bei einigen Vorgängern, sondern zurück zur Aluminium-Unibody-Konstruktion – mit Vorteilen etwa bei Gewicht und Wärmeleitung.

Kamera

Das Kamerasystem wurde umfassend überarbeitet. Das Trio aus Hauptkamera, Ultraweitwinkel und Teleobjektiv besitzt jeweils 48 Megapixel, was für alle drei Linsen einheitliche hohe Detailtiefe verspricht. Besonders das Teleobjektiv ist spannend: Es bietet nun einen 4-fach optischen Zoom, und Apple spricht von „optical-quality 8× Zoom“ durch Kombination aus Hardware und digitaler Verarbeitung. Zudem gibt es Verbesserungen bei Videofunktionen wie ProRes RAW, Log 2 und Genlock, was besonders für Nutzer interessant ist, die Videos professioneller bearbeiten wollen. Die Frontkamera wurde auf 18 Megapixel angehoben und bietet mit „Center Stage“ bessere automatische Anpassungen an Bildausschnitt und Gruppenselfies.

Akku & Ladeverhalten

Ein großer Fokus liegt auf verbesserter Akkulaufzeit. Der Akku des iPhone 17 Pro bietet laut Apple bis zu 33 Stunden Videowiedergabe, der des Pro Max sogar bis zu 39 Stunden. Die Kapazitäten sind ebenfalls gewachsen: Für das Pro-Modell wird etwa 4.252 mAh genannt, beim Pro Max über 5.000 mAh. Damit setzt Apple neue Maßstäbe in der eigenen Produktlinie. Bei der Ladeleistung schafft das iPhone 17 Pro etwa 50 % in rund 20 Minuten mit passendem Netzteil, und MagSafe und Qi-Ladefunktionen sind weiterhin vorhanden.

Besonderheiten & Kritik

Besondere Neuerungen wie eine größere Kamera-„Plateau“ (oder „Camera Plateau“), das die Kameras und Sensoren auf der Rückseite architektonisch anders anordnet, tragen nicht nur zum neuen Look bei, sondern schaffen auch intern mehr Platz und verbessern offenbar die Antennenverlegung.

Vorteile sind also nicht nur kosmetisch.

Kritikpunkte: Der Schritt von Titan zurück zu Aluminium könnte aus Sicht mancher Nutzer als Rückschritt empfunden werden, vor allem bei Haptik oder Prestige. Die Ladeleistung ist zwar verbessert, aber sie bleibt unter einigen Android-Konkurrenten zurück, die deutlich höhere Wattzahlen beim Schnellladen bieten. Zudem bleiben zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch Fragen offen, wie etwa die Leistung bei Dauerbelastung, die Wärmeentwicklung unter echten Bedingungen und wie sich die Akkulaufzeit im Alltag (mit Mobilfunk, Display-On-Time etc.) wirklich darstellt.

The wool for our felt comes from sheep in New Zealand and Australia and is mulesing-free. Mulesing is a controversial process that is unfortunately still practiced in Australia, but only with Merino sheep. The Australian wool from our German felt producer is 100% Merino wool free. This creates a mixture of New Zealand Merino wool and Australian non-Merino wool, which also has an impact on the particularly good and consistent quality of our felt. It is even, stable and pleasant to the touch. For our cell phone case with wallet function we use vegan cork material instead of leather.

The production of organic cotton is certified according to GOTS is subject to the socially and environmentally friendly GOT standards. The printing takes place within the EU in Poland at a modern textile printing company. The organic cotton yarn is produced in the tranquil Netherlands.

Cork has a uniquely pleasant feel. The harvest is good for our environment and the people who grow cork oaks. Cork oak forests are particularly sustainable biotopes with diverse flora and fauna. The tree forms new bark every 9-11 years. A cork oak that is harvested binds 3 times as much CO₂ as one that is not harvested. Harvesting is a Portuguese tradition that can only be done by hand. It guarantees forest owners a secure and well-paid existence.
